Fort Macon State Park
Fort Macon State Park is home to a Civil War fort situated on the far east end of Bogue Banks. The park is surrounded on three sides by water - the Atlantic Ocean, Beaufort Inlet and Bogue Sound. Fort Macon State Park also offers public access to the surf, sun and sand of the Crystal Coast as well as a historic landmark. Catch the Civil War Reenactment on the grounds of Fort Macon and explore a piece of history. This is the perfect place to explore salt marches and estuaries vital to our coastal environment.
Get there early! The parking lot fills up quickly during the summer months. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day fishing on the Beaufort Inlet. Camping, surfing and swimming are prohibited. Visit Fort Macon to enjoy the land's natural beauty and soak up some history.
